Definition as written by Terry:

Plants of the Cucurbitaceae family (melons, squashes, pumpkins), typified by the Lagenaria genus which produces fleshy fruit with a hard rind.

The fruits of these plants often resemble everyday objects such as bottles, dippers, apples, swans; they're frequently grown for the express purpose of drying for use in crafts and ornamental purposes.

Definition as written by WUVIE:

A garden in which gourds are grown is
often humorously referred to as a GOURDEN.
