Any primitive plant in the division Bryophyta, including liverworts, mosses, and hornworts

Aerial plants without defined vascular tissues. They gametophytes are the dominant form of their life cycle, while the sporophytes are dependant, stalk-like, often without chlorophile, with a capsular sporangium on the top (in oposition with other terrestrial plants, like Angiosperms, where the sporophyte are the dominant forms over the gametophytes)
