Definition of dichotomous key

Categorized under "General"

Definition as written by talinum:

A two branched key that can help you quickly identify trees in the field. Leaves are used for the identifying charactistics.

Each line in the key has two choices. Read the descriptions on these two lines and decide which fits your tree best.

The choosing between two characteristics continues through the key until identification is complete. It is hard to describe but, fairly easy to use.
