The process of splitting up plants, roots and all that have begun to get bound together. This will make several plants from one plant, and should be done to some mature perennials every 3 to 4 years.
A method of propagation by which a plant clump is lifted and divided into separate pieces, which include roots and a growing point, during dormancy. The pieces are immediately replanted.
