All seeds have their preferences when it comes to germination. If you expose them to what they want, like a cold period in the refrigerator or a period outdoors in the winter that gives them the oscillating temperatures they may crave instead, then you have exposed them to a treat. Think of it like exposing a cat to catnip. On the one hand, you get a plant, and on the other paw - er, hand, you get happiness.
