The outer covering of certain fruit; also referred to as peel or skin; usually removed prior to eating. Cucurbits (melons, cucumbers) tend to have a thick and/or waxy rind; watermelon rind is sometimes pickled or added to preserves.
Discarded rinds can be composted or fed to livestock.
