Having windows; characterized by windows. In nature, fenstrate or fenestrated can refer to:

1. A type of leaf anatomy with small perforation or transparent spots.

2. Also used to describe some types of perforated peristome teeth in mosses.

3. Having numerous openings; irregularly reticulated; as, fenestrate membranes; fenestrate fronds.

4. Having transparent spots, as the wings of certain butterflies.
