Definition as written by Magpye:

Presence of pests on the plant crops. See also infest.

Definition as written by Terry:

Pests - either in the form of weeds or insects - can weaken or kill a plant when they are present in sufficient quantity to result in an infestation.

It is sometimes possible to salvage a plant by lifting it and manually removing the weeds or insects, then replanting it. Sometimes the most efficient and economical solution is to remove the plant and destroy it, clear the pests out of the immediate area and replant with a new plant.
