Definition of dent corn

Categorized under "General"

Definition as written by got2Bgreen:

Differentiated from sweet corn, what most of us are used to eating at the dinner table, \'dent\' corn or \'yellow dent corn\' sometimes referred to as field corn has a very thicker outer skin that doesn\'t soften up to the point you can eat it even if you cook it for hours. To eat dent corn you must either remove the outer skin with some kind of caustic agent - lye usually, or dry it and grind it into meal.
