A cupped bloom has outer petals that are slightly longer than the petals at the center of the bloom. This causes the outer petals to curve slightly inward. The top of the bloom is slightly sunken, forming a cup.
Cupped blooms can start globular and then open into the cupped form. Some growers specify between shallow cup and deep cup bloom form.
Abraham Darby ® is a good example of a cupped bloom.
Brother Cadfael is a good example of a deep cupped bloom.
