Also known as new growth - and differing from previous year's growth or old growth.

On persistent woody plants, especially fruiting canes and flowering shrubs it's important to know whether a plant flowers (and/or produces fruit) on current or old growth, as that will dictate the timing of any pruning you may wish to do.
