Definition of gumbo clay

Categorized under "General"

Definition as written by Terry:

A very sticky black, gray or green-colored clay commonly found throughout the southern half of the United States. Even though it is full of minerals, the high percentage of clay particles prevent the movement of water or oxygen through the soil, making it next to impossible to raise many plants without heavily amending the soil with organic matter.
