Definition as written by Sugar_fl:

Relating to or characteristic of an herb as distinguished from a woody plant.

Green and leaflike in appearance or texture.

Definition as written by Monocromatico:

Plant in which stem doesnīt do secondary growth (which can be verified anatomically). The stem can be soft or hard, by presence of lignin.

So, in this concept, small plants, like purslanes and grasses, and even large and aparently woody plants, like palms and yuccas, can be considered herbs, since they donīt do secondary growth.

Definition as written by pokerboy:

A non-woody plant that dies down to the ground each year. eg., perennial.
