A plant or tree that has been grown in a nursery setting until it is fully-grown. Such plants are considerably more expensive than younger plants of the same variety. Mature specimens often require special care when planting (especially trees) due to their size and weight, as well as the fact the plant is no longer as adaptable to being transplanted as younger plants typically are.
