(1) Microscopic unsegmented worms, many of which are parasites on plant roots. Un-segmented round worms with elongated, fusiform, or sac-like bodies covered with cuticle, and inhabiting soil, water, plants and animals.
(2) A microscopic roundworm that lives in the soil. There are both harmful and beneficial nematodes. Harmful ones take their toll on the roots of a plant.
