It usually needs a mechanical or insect vector to infect a plant. Definition as written by Magpye: (1) An ultra-microscopic (one dimension less than 200 µm) organism. Viruses cannot reproduce alone but must first infect a living cell and usurp its synthetic and reproductive facilities. Responsible for some diseases in plants and animals.
(2) A plant disease that cannot be eliminated by a chemical means. Some viruses have created stripped tulips. Most are feared by growers.
