This therm is also used in refference to some rock or alpine herbs and shrubs from any family, characterized by compressed, candellabra-like branches and opposite or spiraled, short and narrow leaves, sometimes concentrated on the top of the branches. As an example, Lychnophora passerina, a brazilian alpine shrub of the family Asteraceae.
