Induplicate referts to a \'V\' shaped pinnate leaflet that is oriented so that the V is opening up towards the sky (and the pointed \'midrib\' of the leaflet is pointing to the soil. This is the opposite of \'Reduplicate\' in which the \'V\' opens up towards the soil. For example Phoenix palms have induplicate leaves. The Canary Island Date palm is sometimes confused with a Chilean Wine Palm (Jubaea chilensis) but the latter has reduplicate leaves so one can always tell these two apart this way.
