The scoop on 'Johnson Nursery'

I have purchased all my apple trees, raspberry, blueberry and figs from Johnson's Nursery for the past 15 years and am always very well impressed and pleased with all aspects. I am getting ready to order more raspberry plants. The stock is always well packaged, marked and healthy. I live only about an hour south in Gainesville, GA. which is a real positive benefit because of the similarities in climate. I am an organic gardener and they have many items, especially apple trees that are resistant to various diseases and I do not spray any of the various fruits, but I do read and plant according to the directions they send.

In Feb. 2006 I ordered 4 Asian Pears from this company. They arrived just a few days after ordering, were very well packaged and larger than expected. These trees have been well taken care of, but they have all grown really well and have a few pears this year. Highly recommended!

About a month ago, I ordered some grapes from Johnson Nursery. I ordered 7 concord, 7 niagra and 3 catawba. They shipped and arrived very quickly. Well packaged. They arrived either dormant or just budding. After planting, all but two almost instantly budded and started leafing. Two lagged a bit but it looks like the last one has started developing buds. (I will keep a close eye on that one.)

I found that Johnson Nursery had an excellent quality of product with well developed root structure and fast shipping. I am already looking at what my next purchase will be from them.

I ordered two southern highbush blueberry 'misty' plants two months ago that arrived quickly and are still doing great now. Although they were a little short, the only complaint i have is they don't have more really lowchill southern cultivars that do well in my area so i can order more from them in the future

This place is a mom and pop family business and they are the nicest group of people you could meet. Unlike the color catalogue mail order giants who send you dried up sticks, these people take pride and care in what they do. I have purchased from them three times, twice in person and once via mail order. Everything is growing and thriving extremely well. The trees that came through the mail were packaged with great care and came with great instructions and advice.Everything I bought (fruit trees, grapes, berries) came with strong and healthy root systems. My Heritage rapsberries bore the first year. I have called and emailed with questions and they are always prompt and nice.

I ordered blackberry, and boysenberry vines early this spring. I received the plants, and was so pleased I ordered more blackberries, and some raspberries.
The prices and quality are good. Would definitely order from again. Wonderful company to buy from.

My first transaction with Johnson Nursery was in July of 2005, when I met owner Elissa. I have been a regular ever since.

Plants are great, service is terrific. Bill and Elissa are great people, who love plants and it shows in every contact with them.

I ordered a plum, AU Rubrum. It arrived in perfect condition. I spoke later with a customer rep on the phone trying to place another order of recent cultivars but they were out. The person I spoke with was very polite and helpful. The price was excellent. I will order from them again!

The catalog is helpful in indicating which fruit trees need low chill levels...useful for me in the South.

These people are the best, would highly recommend them to any one wanting a fruit tree. Highly knowledgeable and the most courteous people I have run into in a long time. They go out of their way to insure customer satisfaction. Good "old fashioned" service.
Will do business with no one but them when it comes to fruit trees!

I live in Georgia and was able to pick up the trees, but I called ahead with my order. They had my order ready and waiting for me. The staff is wonderful! I must have called half a dozen times with questions about the trees before I even purchased them(when to plant, cross polination, etc.) Their customer service is outstanding! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and if I had more space I would buy more trees from them.

After searching on the net for varieties of apple trees, I decided on Johnson Nursery as a potential place to purchase them.

The staff on the phone was helpful and informative, answering my questions and making suggestions as to what pollinators would be best.

I placed my order, and was asked when would be the best time for delivery. The date was settled upon, and it was explained to me that if the weather conditions were favorable, that would be my ship date. Being that we have had an unusually harsh winter, this was comforting to me.

A few days later I received a phone call from the staff stating that when they physically went to pull my order, one of the trees was sold out. I asked that they suggest a comparable alternative, and several were suggested to me after they checked that they would also be compatible to my pollinator tree. I selected one that was very close to my original choice, and they went ahead and processed the order.

My order arrived, and things were packed well, trees were pre-pruned and in excellent shape. The stock was good sized, and obviously well taken care of.

I'm extremely pleased with the helpful staff, and the condition of my trees. I will use them again.

Ordered 3 peach 1 plum and some blackberry plants for spring 2006. People were easy to work with and prices and shipping very reasonable. I added to my order several times and there were no mixups. Trees and blackberries arrived in good condition on schedule. Trees and plants doing well. Nice folks. Would buy from them again.

I could not be more impressed. I ordered a Celeste Fig Tree for $9.95+S/$4.47=$14.42 Total. It arrived from Georgia to New Jersey in 2 days and is very healthy and 3ft tall. I'm going back to their website to see if theres anything else I'd like to order. Thank you Johnson Nursery!

I was very pleased with my Johnson Nursery experience. I found the staff to be very pleasant and knowledgeable. I am not a large commercial grower, nor did I even make a large purchase, but the staff was still patient and spent a lot of time answering all of my questions. I highly recommend Johnson nursery to anyone who is looking for honest answers and good customer service, which is lacking in many of today’s businesses.

Just recently I ordered 4 apple trees from this company, great people to deal with, polite and friendly. Trees were sent out the next Tuesday as promised and I received them that Thursday. Nice healthy trees with large rootballs. I would certainly order from these people again.

I am very impressed with the plants I received. I have ordered many plants mailorder from other nursuries, but none were as healthy with the rootball that these had. I will say that when I order fruits or berries again, this will be the only place I order from. They are clearly marked for the zones reccomended with excellent growing and care instructions. Their is excellent communication with nursery people that know their plants and are willing to answer questions, no happy to answer questions, about their plants. These people have pride in what they grow and it shows. Thanks!

I ordered (over the phone!) 6 blueberries late winter '05. They arrived in a few days, and were as promised (or bigger). All have since survived into the summer.

My fruit trees arrived in great shape. These folks go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. They checked with me when they were out of what I wanted and made substitute suggestions. Looking forward to ordering from them again.

I sent them an email order, and recieved the order two days later with eveything nicely packed! I will order from them again in the future!

I've purchased from Johnson Nursery twice this year, and both times the the plants have been beautiful, and the people there are among the nicest I've dealt with.

It doesn't take long to realize that these are the kind of people you want to buy plants from.

This company took the trouble to call me at work to discuss my order. They suggested a few substitutions for out of stock trees (I ordered very late in the season) and I agreed to the changes. My Nectarine, Plums, Peaches, and Strawberries arrived in excellent condition and were thriving, with new growth in what seemed like no time. I am delighted with my plants, they are beautiful.

I will definately be ordering from them again, since the plants are healthy, the prices reasonable, service excellent and they carry a wide variety of interesting fruit trees.

I ordered 5 fruit trees for myself and 3 for my mother early this year. I also ordered a bag of fertilizer pellets. Not only were the prices reasonable, but the staffmember I spoke with over the phone was very friendly and competent. I searched for some time before settling on this company to order from. There were 3 reasons I chose them (1) the feedback in this forum, (2) the availability of the varieties and sizes of trees that should grow best in my zone 7 and my mother's zone 8 gardens, and (3) the prices are about 1/2 - 2/3 of their competitor's and shipping was *not* more expensive than the trees themselves. My mother and I planted our trees in March and the trees are very healthy looking. One of the apples in my yard has grown over a foot already. I would definitely order from them again.

On 4/26/2004 I ordered 100 strawberry plants taking advantage of a 1/2 price sale. They arrived on 4/29 in excellent shape; were well-packaged, and had lots of green tops ready to plant. I would definitely do business with this company again.

I ordered three fruit trees via their website and requested a specific timeframe for delivery. They shipped on time and in perfect condition. I was thrilled to see the healthy root systems and the careful packing. Great prices, great product, efficient service -- I'm happy to recommend them.

I have orderered plants from this company for the past two years. They plants show up very quickly and well packaged. They are also healthy.

19 2003 I ordered 20 blackberry plants.On March 10,2003 I received the plants, they were packed very good. We planted them the next day and they are doing very well,All 20 plants
are growing good and have blooms on them. It is may 22,2003

All 3 apple trees come in good shape ,but 1 tree had a wrong label on it and was magic markered with correct name.

I ordered a pear tree last year and it has grown very well for a newbie gardener that I am! I received in just a few short days after ordering! Johnson's also has a shipping week option so you can choose what week would be best for you to receive your order; FANTASTIC! I have ordered 2 more trees this year and they are expected in early march so I will come back and let you all know how that went too! Prices are very reasonable and they have a very big selection especially on Apple varieties.

You find out how good customer service is when things go wrong. My grandmother ordered my Xmas present from them (a plum tree). They sent it to her instead of me. They told her to keep the tree and Fedexed me an identical one.

Ordered (2) bare root semi-dwarf pear trees. Received (2) 4-ft trees in good condition via UPS ground in two days. Price was reasonable ($12.95 per tree plus $8.95 UPS charges.) Good selection for southern varieties. Would buy again from Johnson Nursery.
