I ordered a variety of bareroot plants from Prairie Moon Nursery. I was very happy with the packaging and quality of the plants I received. The planting instructions they sent along with the plants were very detailed and I greatly appreciated the information. I will definitely order from them again.

Received their paper catalog that was filled with unique seeds, some endangered, with beautiful color pictures, growing and germination information, and prices that are
very reasonable......generous amounts of seeds for the price
of $2.00 per packet.......This company seems to care about
Mother Earth's plants and seems to work hard to preserve seeds of plants from all zones.....Sent in a check for my order and received it promptly......credit memo given for something they were out of.........will order again from them.....maryanne

I've been dealing with Prairie Nursery for the past 6 years now and have nothing but good things to say. The only plant that hasn't grown for me out of the 100s is Rattlesnake Master.

I ordered 5 prickly pear cactus plants August 12, 2007.

On August 27, the plants had not arrived, so I emailed [e-mail:kathy@prairiemoon.com] to inquire about the status of the order. No response.

It's now September 1, still no plants or any communication from the company. Not good.

It's going to be too late to get them established before frost at this rate. I'm very unhappy.

They have an excellent and varied selection of native seeds and plants. Many I couldn't find anywhere else. They have super fast service. My seeds came in within a few days of ordering. The seeds are of great quality as mine had sprouted very quickly. I will definitely buy from them again.

I've placed several orders with Prairie Moon, and they are consistently one of the best online web stores & the best online garden companies I've done business with. They are fast, have great communications, and their plants and seed have been top notch and well-shipped. They have minimum shipping charges, so don't order just a $2 packet of seeds - but they are in line with the other native plant nurseries I've ordered from (a bit lower than some), and they ship so your package doesn't spend too much time in transit .

Their site is one of the most informative for growing and planting native prairie plants, with excellent detailed germination guidance. Their bare root stock plants each come with a picture that make clear how that species should be planted (depth and root arrangement). I've interacted with several of their people when I had questions and found them helpful and knowledgable. They've been around for over 30 years now, and are worker-owned.

They deserve an extremely positive rating rather than just positive.

I ordered from Prairie Moon twice this year, first for seeds, and then for plants when they had a sale. The seed packets were generous, and the seeds of high quality. The plant order arrived yesterday, and despite it being late in the season, the roots were in excellent shape, with growth present on all varieties. They were carefully packed in peat moss in plastic bags, the moss was not too wet so that they would rot, nor so dry that they would dessicate. Size of roots in many cases exceeded my expectations. They are also good at keeping one informed about when the order will ship. They also have a huge selection of native plants, many of which are not available elsewhere, and some of which are quite rare/endangered. A great company filling a pretty much unique niche.

I ordered some bareroot plants from Prairie Moon this spring and was very pleased with the large, healthy looking plants I received. Everything was nicely packgaged. A very good value for the money!

I have ordered from Prairie Moon for the past 4 years and have never had a bad experience. The germination rate of the seeds (which is what I predominantly purchase) is excellent!
This is the first year that I have purchased forb seeds and have most germinating already! Absolutely tremendous!

Great selection, fast shipping and great customer service. There was a slight mix-up on my order: Eupatorium perfoliatum was sent instead of Eupatorium purpureum. An understandable mistake to be sure. I sent an email and the matter was resolved immediately. Even though this is a busy time of year I still got a nice handwritten note explaining the mix-up- a rare touch these days. These are good folks and I look forward to doing business with them again. Highly recommended.

Over the weekend I put in an order. At 9:31 Monday morning they wrote to say the order had been processed. Today, Tuesday the order was delivered to my door just before 3pm. It was in great condition just like every package I have gotten from them. If you have questions give them a call they are very helpful.

This company has great plants and great customer service. I ordered several plants from Prarie Moon last year. They all arrived dormant and bare root. After I planted them, almost all came up. A simple email to Prairie Moon quickly resolved the situation. They offered to replace the plants - no questions asked, no hesitation.

Seed packets are generous, seeds have high germination rates. I have succesfully grown plants from their seed that I have never had luck with before. Their plants are awesome, big and robust and very nicely priced! Their catalog is a great source of germination and cultivation information and is on my reference shelf. I would highly recommend this nursery, they rate 5 stars in my book.

Outstanding company! My wife and I have literally invested thousands of dollars worth in seeds and plants from Prairie Moon over the past couple of years for reestablishing a native prairie. The diversity in offerings (of both seeds and bare-root plants) is unmatched! We appreciate their efforts to fill our orders with ecootypes native to our region. We have found them prompt and very willing to answer our questions. We will continue to use them for our native plant purchases and recommend them to other restorationists!

I have done business with Prairie Moon for the past few years. They are my first stop when I'm looking for a native plant, I only shop elsewhere if they don't have what I'm looking for. I usually order seeds, but when I have ordered plants, I am very impressed by the size and health of what I've received. They really are fantastic!

I placed an order for seed this year, the first time I have dealt with them. The seed came very quickly, and I have had germination on several species already. I ordered online, then rec'd a catalog last week. Their catalog is a wonderful source of information and will be worth keeping for reference. I didn't order plants, but the prices are more than reasonable. I have a perennial business, and the prairie moon prices are comparable to what many places would charge for wholesale.

These guys are an absolute dream to deal with. I placed a online order for five packets of seed on December 23rd, sent an email to them directly afterward as I had a question. I received an answer to my email by the end of the same day and my seed arrived on December 28th!!! Considering it was the Xmas period I am truely amazed that I received my seeds so quickely

As for the packaging, the seeds are all in very well defined envelopes with great planting directions. These were then packed in a great padded envelope so that they would arrive safely

I will DEFINITELY be ordering from these guys again in the future

I have ordered from Prairie Moon the past three years and have nothing but great things to say about them. I have ordered both plants and seeds, and have been extremely happy with everything I have ordered. The plants were all healthy and grew well, some flowering the first season in the ground. I had a very high germination rate with the seeds ordered and numbers are what is stated. Detailed instructions come with each order and I was kept well informed of the status of my orders, receiving several emails throughout the process. A+ company!

I ordered a large selection of bareroot plants. They arrived in good condition with the best instructions I've seen. The plants are in the ground and starting to break through. This is a great place for native plants.

This is the 3rd order I have placed with this company, and just like the others, my order is just perfect.. Everything comes bareroot, but the sizes they ship are just outstanding. They send wonderful instructions on how to plant the bareroots. I will continue to order from them, their customer service is A1 as is their plants..

Wow! The quality and size of the plants I received were amazing. I've paid more for smaller, less healthy plants at more well-known on-line nurseries. I would definately order again.

I purchased 7 native plants from them this year and I was amazed at their size and good condition. I have never received such large, fine specimens in all the years I have been buying via mail order. For the cost vs. size comparison, you won't be able to find a better deal. I highly recommend!

This is a great source for natives. The catalog is the best information I have found anywhere and the seeds have been fresh and true to name. I ordered Amorpha canescens and the roots were really nice and big, especially for a slow grower like lead plant. Good service.

I've ordered both plants and seed; the seed mixes look good and the instructions that come with them explain exactly what you need to do. The forbs I've ordered were small and would easily get lost in a wild setting their first year (the quality was good, though; just smaller than I expected). The trees and shrubs, however, were good size with good root systems.

I have been buying from them for years. Their catalog is the high point of winter when it arrives (although now I get it sooner via PDF). Their plants are high quality and if you goof it's your fault because the catalog tells you everything you need to know. At least one other nursery uses their germination codes. They answer e-mails and never sound busy on the phone. My only problem is my acid soil probably hampers their alkaline-soil grown plants.
