"My name is Alice Harris. I grow and hybridize cannas and brugmansias. I like developing new and exciting varieties. I also play in hybridizing crops and other plants. And I enjoy helping our youngest Daughter with her heirloom tomatoes.
We grow a large butterfly and hummingbird garden, a herb and lavender garden, a cutting and dried flower garden, rain gardens, roof gardens, and field crops. Our farm practices sustainable agriculture and green culture. Blessed with good gardens, we grow extra to share with our neighbors and local food pantry.
In our local Community we participate in a Pheasants Forever partnership, National Wildlife Federation backyard wildlife program, Three Rivers Rain Garden Alliance, Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania, and Buy Fresh Buy Local. In the larger community we are members of the International Society for the Horticultural Sciences, Garden Writers Association, Brugmansia Growers International, and Ibrugs.
I love photographing, and I love to write. And I always like growing something new :)
Aside from just a regular gardener, many of my canna hybrids and be seen at:
