"Having moved to southwestern Kansas in February, I am on another steep learning curve, and learning a new meaning for the term "perrenial" -- it is now May 6th, and we are just now able to plant and really work outside. I'm used to getting out in the middle of February or the middle of March...and apparently we can expect our first freeze as early as mid-September. Argh!
We have 10 acres, and a huge yard, so I am thinking after we get the place cleaned up and like we want it, I will have the better half build me a greenhouse!
And, during our move, I left some of my tender plants outside, and many of them got frost-bit, and alas, some died. The ones I miss most are my ferns - kangaroo paw and rabbit's foot - and some of my more exotic succulents. And the rub is that I have a sun room - but we got here late, and I didn't feel like lugging the plants up the stairs....grrr!"
