"I have always had an interest in gardening since early childhood, probably due to the strong influence of both of my parents. As a child through the teens, I saw it as a four-letter word: WORK! Now I use it as a form of therapy, relaxation and physical conditioning which helps remove some of the pressures of a mad-paced, frenzy-driven world! I also feel gardening is an artistic expression which reveals the heart and soul of a person. In my opinion, gardening is a God-given gift to share with others who accept it. He undoubtedly loves gardens since He began creation in a garden, and gave us eternal hope in another."

"For several years now I've dabbled in hybridizing irises and daylilies. Most crosses with both plant groups have not yielded anything exceptional; However, there have been some "keepers" which deserve further evaluation. Among these is this daylily seedling which I find promising. Even as I make this entry (October 5, 2007) it is in full re-bloom today. The colors look accurate in my picture; However, they are not consistent with each bloom. Some are less distinct than shown, but I am pleased with the halo, as well as the infused shade of the same color edging each petal. It is a strong growing, faithful blooming and attractive plant. I might add, it also came through one of the most severe freezes this past April that I can ever recall in my lifetime. Temperatures plunged on April 4, 2007 to 18F after several weeks of 60's and 70's, with overnight lows staying around 20F for the next 10 days! To sum up this entry: This seedling is called #2005-4, and no doubt it will stay around the garden for further evaluation."
