"I live in Chicago, to the North and near Lake Michigan. Winters here are brutal, but I have created microclimates to take advantage of, extending my z5 garden to grow plants up to z8 with protection.
First project was building a walled garden with a sunken koi pond and waterfall. Second, a series of connecting cedar trellises, obelisk, and brick paths. Third, a large cedar arbor for the ancient grape vine. Underneath the arbor is a brick patio, my vantage point to relax and enjoy all of the garden.
I collect Brugmansias, aquatics, ornamental grasses, Cannas, many elephant ears and much more to create a bit of controlled jungle here in the city. "
