"I started gardening in the 80s with some marigolds and now mostly grow perennials and veggies from seed. I've been growing organically for the past 15 years. This spring I had to move and leave behind an extensive garden, so I'm starting over in my new place. This time I am trying to refrain from buying any plants and do all seed-grown. This year I put in some Russian belladonna, dyer's broom, black hollyhocks, variegated moonworts, costmary, belladonna, bog myrtle, prairie rose, variegated mugworts, and a number of artemisias.. My back yard is mostly shade, so next spring I will be colonizing the front yard, where all the sun is. I've got a garden dedicated to the Solanaceae planned for that, to include a number of different daturas. My favorite plants to grow are mandrake, henbane, and belladonna. I enjoy working with the nightshades, papavers, ipomoeas, and artemisias.
This winter I'll be growing plants in the basement under shoplights so I can get a good start next spring. I've got a bunch of Turkmen mandrakes going and will be starting white and black mandrakes shortly. I've also got some golden henbane, variegated myrtle, dittany of Crete, and arctic poppy. Lots more to do!"
