The beginning of this book is gardening basics - how to plant seeds, pruning, planting containers, etc. But the fun (and kind of silly) part of this book is the mix & match section which has about 250 different annuals and perennials. The pages are cut horizontally into quarters so you can flip each plant separately, with a beautiful picture on the right with zone, planting, and growth info on the left. I believe each quarter section represents a different height.
There are very specific cultivars of lots of different kinds of plants- if I ever picked a combination I fear I would never find the specific cultivars listed.
It is fun to sit and flip through in the winter...but I would never use it to actually pick out my garden combos.
