I garden in Louisiana and have just about worn this book out. I have followed thier advice with great results. This really is the best reference for growing herbs in the deep south.
I had possibly the best dinner of my life at Hilltop Herb Farm back in 1975. What a beautiful place, and how tragic it was destroyed. But this book just can't be beat.
This is the absolute "bible" for southern herb growing. These two ladies owned a restaurant/garden center for herbs for many years in Round Top Texas...it was destroyed by a tornado many years ago. They are frequent speakers at the Antique Rose Emporiums Fall Festival in Independance Texas.
Just got this for Christmas and it quickly became my favorite. It is a great reference that provides close-up pictures and detailed information on a wide variety of herbs.
The absolute best reference for growing and using herbs in south central Texas ( and in other places, but I am only acquainted with the TX part). The mother and daughter duo founded Hilltop Herb Farm near Cleveland,TX where they grew and harvested herbs, created herbal products and had a mail-out service. Both authors have been speakers on herbs for years. Madalene Hill has been the president of the Herb Society of America.
