This is/was the bible for palms from Madagascar, where most of the palm species will surely be extinct in the near future... and there are so many unique and potentially wonderful landscape species from there it is a real shame. Each species is covered thoroughly (though many 'species' in cultivation left out or poorly identified).. new species keep being added all the time. Some have no photographs which is too bad... but most of the photos are excellent.. sort of big book for reading in bed... but a minor complaint. Needs to be updated, but hard to beat the experience and expertise of the authors.
