The first edition of this book was my very first palm book and it was a great introduction to palms- not terribly useful in terms of how to grow them, but great photos of many of the most common species. Now the book is twice as thick, and the photos even better... and still a nice small book (about 6" x 6")... doesn't quite fit in my pocket anymore, though. Only in hardback that I'm aware of. Author is top palm researcher and field biologist, as well as one of the most successful sellers of palm seed in the world. He knows his stuff. I recommend this book to anyone who doesn't know anything about palms, but is curious and doesn't want to spend a lot of $$.
