I have found this book really useful, it has helped me identify many mystery aloes. Good pictures and descriptions, really easy to read. And is the only book on Aloes that seems to be easy to get a copy of. Wish it had all the Aloes in it!
Great book- very thorough, practical and complete. Has at least one photo of every South African aloe species, and a thorough description of each, where they're found, their status (endangered or not) and a blurb about cultivation. If every genera was covered like this, there wouldn't be a need for so many books. It's nearly perfect. Only thing NOT perfect about it is it's out of print and now costs a fortune to buy!

Just this year (2008) this book has been re-released with a new cover... figures. Cheaper now, too, thankfully.
