The cover of the book indicates it addresses fountains, swimming pools, lily pools, ponds, and water edges. It does this all plus more. Truly a definitive resource as well as an inspirational publication for all water gardeners. Van Sweden is an authority in this area and is well respected. He exposes his readers to many creative ways to introduce water features into any landscape. One of the best books on water gardening in print.

"Selected by the American Horticultural Society as one of the 75 best gardening books of the last 75 years! From birdbaths and small fountains to waterfalls and lily pools, Gardening with Water is the definitive reference for anyone who wants to add imaginative water displays to their garden. Starting with the influential designs of Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater and palace gardens in Kyoto, Japan, and continuing with nearly 100 projects of his own, renowned landscape designer James van Sweden demonstrates scores of inventive ways to introduce water into any traditional or contemporary garden design. Here are practical answers to such common questions as what types of plants to choose, where to plant them so that they'll thrive, how to plan water edges and pools, and much more. Plus, over 250 dazzling photos; extensive diagrams; and comprehensive glossaries of trees, plants, and flowers make everything easy!"
