I've owned this book for a very long time, but I never used it as much as some of the other Time Life books: Easy Gardens. Perennials, and Annuals, for instance. A much, much more useful book for shade gardening is Making the Most of Shade by Larry Hodgson. I read gardening books voraciously, have gardened for more than 30 years, and work in a perennial nursery. In my opinion, Hodgson's is the best book on shade gardening.
