In this collection of essays, some of which were originally in Cosmopolitan and Good Housekeeping according to the flyleaf, Julian Meade leaves his Southwestern Virginia garden and visits other places up and down the East coast as well as California. His essay "The Unbehooved Gardener" also appears in 'The Writer in the Garden' (Jane Garmey), which led me to this entertaining author. I enjoyed this one for his expose on some of the Hollywood actors of his time and for a view on gardening in and around Virginia.
