I've just recently re-read this book and again, I've laughed out loud. Some of the essays are poignant but on the whole, this book is a hoot. The characters almost walk off the page and ask for a garden tour.
This book was a wonderful pick-me-up, full of laughs. Each chapter showcases a friend, relative, or gardeneing acquaintance and describes what they grow or how they have influenced her own gardening. I enjoyed all the characters she has met, but reading about her own garden was delightful. I especially enjoyed the Gardening Quiz and The Most Perplexing Questions. I felt mildly embarrassed for myself at some of her zingers (I too have a stockpile of pots, flats and Cool Whip containers...you just never know).
