This book by Little & Lewis feeds my garden book fetish. It comes out on top actually. I've admired their work for sometime in those few newspaper articles and in the columns in our local Arboretum, and especially at Heronswood Nursery. The book is as well done as any I've seen and is a joy to read and re-read. Truly inspirational.
If I had to chose one word to describe this book, it would be "inspirational"! A gorgeous photographical journey through George Little's and David Lewis' garden retreat in Puget Sound, Washington. Oversized and broad leaf plants, zone-pushing tropicals, unique water features & concrete masterpieces, all combine to embellish their stunning garden, that is truly a work-of-art. They also offer words of inspiration and encouragement for gardeners to "strike out on their own". Practical advice is also included on making slow-drip natural fountains, building inexpensive Tuscan style garden walls, favorite plants for making colorful tropical containers, selecting ornamental water plants, creating "rooms", adding art & sculpture to one's garden and the importance of vertical structures, all combine to make this a book that you will read from cover-to-cover numerous times.
