This is an odd book, in that I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped but I still read the whole text. The format is basically a brief blurb on a particular plant hunter, and then a list of various plant introductions they've made. On the upside, the plant hunters are interesting folks and their introductions are fascinating (if often esoteric or impractical for the average gardener). On the downside, the quality of the writing is only so-so and I wish there were pictures for each of the plants under discussion. If you're into unusual plants, I'd check out Dan Hinkley's The Explorer's Garden first.
