This book is extremely useful for identifying unknown plants found in the Canadian prairie provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba). It contains both scientific and common names for the plants. The older system of plant families is used (eg - Cruciferae instead of Brassicaceae). The book is intended for farmers, but it helps to have some botanical background so that one doesn't need to look at the glossary all the time. That said, this is one of the best books I have seen for plant identification for this area.
