This is the best book on shade gardening that I've come across. Hodgson gardens in zone 3 (albeit with snow cover), and so most of these plants can be grown in my zone 5 (no snow cover) garden. I love the fact that he offers alternatives and detailed descriptions. He discusses types of shade and different varieties of plants to grow...not just perennials, but annuals, bulbs, vines, etc.
A beautiful, user-friendly book

An excellent resource book on the plants that thrive in the shade, their descriptions and care. Beautiful pictures. A pleasure to read.

Very interesting; cover well the subject.
Second part of the book presents plants that can grow well in the shade with descriptions and also a more personnal commentary by the author under 'Larry's Garden Notes' wich is very interesting.
