If you are interested in collecting and growing "fat plants" this book is an absolute must. I find myself just flipping through the book and looking back over the amazing pictures from time to time. The book also offers good general information on purchasing and growing pachyforms. Since I'm relatively new to growing these plants the resonable price of the book was a great plus.
This book at a reasonable price will rank with the premiere work on caudex forming plants by Gordon Rowley ( $100 as a used book). It is an expert's book that has the rare quality of being understood by amateurs. The photos are beautiful and the text explains even how to buy caudex plants.
It is full of personal opinions , rare in gardening books . Buy it before it is also $100 for a used copy.
I bought this book to help me out with a ponytail palm that I acquired. It has great information on propagation and care of this type of succulent and has 350 wonderful color photos. If you collect unusual succulents, this is a great book for your library.
