It's a pretty book with lots of photographs and a comprehensive overview of the orchid family. But I have a problem with it being a "practical gardening handbook." There are a few sentences about the growing conditions each group of orchids likes, and that's it as far as practical. Little or nothing about orchid media, fertilizing, etc. This book is really just an encyclopedia of orchids.

To be fair, it\'s probably practical enough if you already know about growing orchids and just need to know something about the growing conditions for different types. But it\'s not a good book for beginners.
