Very thorough and proffesional, authorative even. Many good ideas and good advice but dry and scholarly. I found it a little overwhelming when I read it as a new gardener (and a tiny bit boring) I have waded through this book methodically on and off for years and found that I learned more from other gardeners, people at DG and the Organic Gardening magazine. A good reference book though.
