Pamela Harper's "Designing with Perennials" provided copious detailed information on designing my mixed border and lots of new ideas presented in a very readable format with vivid photography.
Many of you are probably already familiar with Ms. Harper from her more recent best seller garden book, "Color Echoes", and you can be sure she includes lots of information on color themes and contrast, plant combinations, and garden ornaments and accents in this earlier book (1991), too.
I checked out this book from our library looking for guidance on perennial and mixed border plantings, and, it is, indeed, a great source.
