Certified organic farmer, seedsman and food guru Dan Jason offers growing instructions and recipes for the heirloom and heritage seeds and growing stock offered both by his seed company and others. Both food and medicinal plants are covered.

Instructions are provided on how to save your own seeds, so it isn't necessary to buy them again year after year.

He explains the true extent of the environmental damage, threat to organic farming and the loss of our genetic heritage, caused by modern farming techniques and the widespread growing of genetically modified crops we see today.

The book concludes with suggestions on what we as individuals can do to protect the food we eat.

The book offers an informal approach, and is easily read by beginners. At the same time, more experienced growers will find many useful tips and tricks buried in it's pages. Once read, it will find a place on your bookshelf as an invaluable reference manual.
