When I began attempting Asian cooking, I was flummoxed by all the different herbs and veggies required and not available in my local supermarket. This book helped me translate the names, learn how they are grown and how to grow them in my backyard garden. It also helped with varieties in each basic class. Now I can read most Asian recipes written in English and do grow some Asian vegetables and herbs. Ms. Larkcom offers lots of pictures and growing suggestions and even a few recipes. It has been a great help to me over the years.
