This book provides 12 categories of basic designs with four additional variations for each. Each plan includes plant and material lists, planting instructions, and basic maintenance instructions for successive seasons in each "recipe". Basic bed preparation and general gardening information is included in the introduction.
What's missing in the plans, and the book is information about planting zones. The author does direct the reader to check with local nurseries to find out what varieties will work best in their locations, but she does not provide zone ranges for the plants she recommends. This could lead a novice gardener to make errors in choosing plants if they live in either very cold or much warmer climates.
Otherwise, a useful book for design ideas and/or "recipes" for beds. |
