This is typical of Rodales' books with a variety of perennials pictured with description, size info, growing guidelines, landscaping uses and suggested companion plants. The first half of the book is devoted to the perennial landscape with much valuable information on planning, growing and solving landscape problems. This book is a good addition to any gardeners library.

Gorgeous pictures and useful information. Includes sections on landscaping special sites (hillsides, shade, bog, dry, foundation planting) and on designing particular types of gardens (color-theme, meadow, butterfly, herb, cottage, scented, container, cutting). About half of the book is a dictionary of perennials with picture, characteristics, and suggestions for use in the landscape and companions
