This is one of my favorite clematis books. The author has four or five photos and an in depth description for each of the approximately 35 highlighted viticella hybrids. The photos show the foliage, sometimes a bud and a photo with lots of flowers in addition to the usual glamor shot of a single blossom.

In addition, there are 11 photos with similar type flowers grouped together so it is easier to see the color, shape, and size difference between these varieties. One example is a photo showing 'Etoile Violette', 'Blue Belle' and 'Polish Spirit' side by side for comparison.

There are also other photos showing clematis combinations and various diagrams showing different support ideas besides the standard trellis. A supplementary list of viticellas by country of origin, including shorter descriptions and only a few photos is also given, as well as the usual selection, planting and care guide. While it is true that there are a couple of photos that aren't as sharp as could be desired, they are very few and still nicely illustrate the clematis.
