This is a little book with absolutely *gorgeous*, art poster-quality photographs, mostly flower close-ups. The text has a bit of history of cottage gardens and discusses the decline and disappearance of many heirloom flowers, and characteristics like fragrance and self-seeding. This is followed by an A-Z listing of heirloom perennials, annuals, vines, and bulbs. Unfortunately there are no pictures accompanying the A-Z list, but other than that it is a pleasant and beautiful book.
