A note from the authors: "This is a book that does not fall into any of the categories provided here at Dave's, whose site we love, so here's our take on it: Several years ago we were approached by a publisher to write a book about "spiritual gardening". We thought about it for awhile. We spoke with a Nobel Prize nominee in physics and fractal geometry, a world renowned expert in identifying sacred sites. We looked at what people have venerated throughout the centuries and what natural elements were present (stone, water, fragrance, etc.) and we spoke with lots of "ordinary gardeners". It was in speaking with the "ordinary gardeners" like us that we truly felt the connection to something larger in the universe. The "aha!" factor. This book shares their stories (with lots of pictures) and our own story of two "ex-hippies" creating a collector plant nursery and "following our bliss" as Joseph Campbell said. The "ordinary" gardener is an amazing being!
Wonderful book chock full of photos of some amazing gardens.
The gardens created belong to "regular" people. They reflect what anyone can do with their space, be it large or small.
I should know - my small but crowded container garden is one of those that is featured.
