I truly enjoyed this book. I have about 200 roses and it was fun to read about all the work the goes on behind the scenes in hybridization as well as all the work and prep that so many people put into showing their roses on large scale at national events. I've attended one local rose show and had fun, but I'm an amateur and just do it as a hobby. I could see a bit of myself in all those people though and really enjoyed seeing a bit into their world. Highly recommend it. It has good tips for a rose gardener as well as an exhibitor and it just give me a better appreciation of those wonderful flowers in my yard.
I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did! I love roses but I don't show my roses so I did not think I was goind to take much our of it. Well, needless to say I learned a few things that I am incorporating into my gardening!!! This book also gave me some perspective on what I saw this past May 07 when I attended the San Diego Rose Show at Balboa Park. Wow, I saw gorgeous, fabulous, marvelous roses.
The book held me captive! It's well written, really interesting, and really encouraged me to try some new things next spring.
I learned a lot from all the rosarians that go to the extreme to grow and show marvelous roses. I am very curious to see their rose gardens and also visit all the rose gardens in the US!
